    Currículum breve:

    Manuel Rico-Secades was born in Oviedo, Spain, in 1961. He received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering from the University of Oviedo in 1986 and 1989, respectively. Since 1986, he has been with the Electrical and Electronic Department, University of Oviedo, where he is currently a Full Professor.

    His research interests include Industrial Electronics, Energy Conversion and Power Electronics, especially Resonant Converters, Electronics Ballast, Discharge Lamp Modeling, DC-to-DC Converters, Power Factor Correction Topologies and Industrial Control.

    He is author of over 160 papers in journals and international conference proceedings and he has participated in over 20 research projects and about 15 contracts for technology transfer to enterprise. Also, he is the co-author of five Spanish patents Spanish and he has participated in the development of 10 industrial products marketed today.

    He was adviser for more than 100 Degree and Master Thesis and doctoral supervisor for 10 PhD works. Dr. Rico-Secades is a recipient of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Meritorious Paper Award for 1996.

    From 2008 to 2010 he was the R&D Management Director of the Vice-chancellor for Research in the University of Oviedo. He was member of the team for the development of the Campus of International Excellence Project of the University of Oviedo.

    Professional activity: Since 1986 he is member (number 735) of "Colegio oficial de Ingenieros Industriales de Asturias y León" and since 1992 he is also Member (number 0530493) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and since 2012 Senior Member of the same institution.

    His Hobbies are Family (married with two daughters), Athletics (CAO athletic club membership), Sailing (yacht license- "Patrón de yate" in Spanish, Reading (history books), Music (all types) and Photography.
