Emilio López Corominas (M'97) was born in Oviedo, Spain, in 1965.
He received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oviedo, Spain, in 1992 and 1999, respectively.
From 1993 to 2001, he was an Assistant Professor with the Electrical and Electronic Department of the University of Oviedo, where since 2001 he has been Associate Professor.

His research interests include electronic systems for lighting and renewable energy systems, high-frequency electronic ballasts, discharge lamp modeling, electronic drivers for high-brightness LEDs, high-frequency switching converters, power factor correction converters, industrial control systems, and digital control for power electronics.
